Champagne-colored iPhone fetches $10,000 on eBay

Gold rush: Champagne-colored iPhone fetches $10,000 on eBay

We finally might have found an Apple fan who is sillier than the ones who sat outside during a typhoon just so they wouldn’t lose their place in line for the iPhone 5s. AsBusiness Insider notes, eBay users are now selling gold iPhone 5s models for thousands of dollars a piece, including one gold iPhone that just sold for a winning bid of more than $10,000. Gold iPhones have been in high demand ever since the iPhone 5s launched last Friday and we’ve heard several reports of early supply shortages for the device. Even so, it’s unclear why anyone would spend $10,000 for a device that will at some point be available for just $200 on contract especially since Apple is reportedly planning to ramp up gold iPhone production to meet demand.

After releasing the record-breaking sales figures for theiPhone 5s and iPhone 5c opening weekend, the company has announced that it expects its Q4 revenue to be near the high end of its original estimate. According to Street InsiderAppleoriginally provided a range of $34 billion to $37 billion of total revenue and 36% to 37% gross margin for the fourth fiscal quarter and the company is now very confident that it will more than exceed its lowest guidance. Smartphone buyers showed an unprecedented amount of enthusiasm for the new iPhone models, with some customers lining up as early as two weeks in advance of the retail release. It seems that the limited supply has not stopped buyers from getting their hands on the 5s and 5c, nor has it stopped Apple from raising its expectations for the rest of the year.

Apple now letting customers check iPhone availability, pick up devices in stores

It’s taken a while but Apple has now added a feature to its Apple Store website that lets users check for iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c availability in their local Apple stores and reserve devices for pickup. Interested buyers can now check for availability in their areas after they select a finish, model and wireless carrier for their new iPhone by clicking on a “check availability” button and entering in their zip code. Once they see that there are iPhones available in their area, they can place an order with the store that will give them the option of picking up their device within an hour or so. Apple will send customers an email when their device is ready for pickup.

iPhone 5s, 5c sales top 9 million in biggest debut weekend ever, iOS 7 upgrades hit 200 million

Apple on Monday announced that combined sales of its brand new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c handsets topped 9 million units through their first weekend of availability. The impressive figure handily tops last year’s iPhone 5 sales, which totaled 5 million units through the phone’s first three days of availability. The company also confirmed that 200 million people have updated to iOS 7 so far — last year, 100 million iOS devices had updated to the newly released iOS 6 during the same amount of time. Apple released the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c this past Friday and massive lines formed around the worldSupply of the new iPhone 5s was constrained at launch, and we knew that finding gold models in the U.S. would be next to impossible. That didn’t stop the crowds from turning out though, and Apple has once again managed to top its debut weekend sales record with the world’s most popular smartphones. Apple’s full press release follows below.
